Skinny

Why do I not speak?

Because I hesitate,

With half chewed words.

I want to speak,

To open my mouth

And cast words out

like flocks of birds.

To replace the lies,

That were soft,

With the hard sounds

I could not make.

To catch,

The language our eyes made.

As I chose to blink.

To apologize,

For the words that were sore,

Too skinny to stand alone.

Why do I not speak?

The answer I know,

To hear your response.
